Shaker A. Zahra is a distinguished scholar and the Robert E. Buuck Chair of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. With an extensive academic career spanning several prestigious institutions, including Babson College and Georgia State University, Dr. Zahra has made significant contributions to the fields of corporate and international entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities, and strategic management. His research focuses on industry emergence, strategic choices, and their implications for firm heterogeneity, contributing to the theoretical perspectives of knowledge, organizational learning, and dynamic capabilities. Dr. Zahra's ongoing research covers multiple industries and countries, applying various methods and theories across different levels of analysis.
Recognized globally for his scholarly work, Dr. Zahra has received numerous awards, including the 2014 Global Award for Entrepreneurship Research and five honorary Ph.D. degrees from renowned institutions in Sweden, Belgium, Italy, and Spain. Professor Zahra has published extensively in top-tier journals and has authored or edited 12 books and conference proceedings. His research has been featured in major media outlets and translated into several languages. As an academic leader, he has served on numerous editorial boards and chaired tracks for prestigious conferences.
